As part of our Electricity topic, we have been learning about the different sources of electricity, as well as how to use basic circuits. Yesterday we were challenged to create a model windmill which looked good enough to convince people that windmills are a good source of electricity. Our windmills had to include working blades and a switch to turn them on and off.
We worked in groups of two or three, first designing our model and choosing which materials we would use to create it.
Once we had finished our designs, we began building our model windmills. It proved a little bit tricky to get them to stand up by themselves, and to make sure the circuits stayed connected inside!
The children have really enjoyed their Electricity topic. Although it has been short, there has been a lot of learning going on! Here are the completed windmills...

Primary 3/4S enjoying the sunshine! To make the most of this beautiful weather, we have been taking our lessons outside.
In maths, we have been exploring fractions, so we went out into the playground to see what fractions were waiting for us... or what was ready to be divided into fractions!
We even took our reading outside this week, and read our books in the sunshine whilst the others in the class wrote out their spelling words on the ground with water and brushes. The sun dried up our words really quickly so we had to write them as fast as we could!
